Get Started With Your Stanford Benefits
As a new Stanford faculty or staff member, you have 31 days from your hire date to enroll you and your eligible dependents in Stanford benefits programs. Once you've reviewed the program and plan information, go to MyBenefits to enroll in your plans.
Be sure to take advantage of some of our helpful tools to help you with your decisions, such as Educated Chooser to calculate your medical benefits contributions or Compare Plans to compare plan features and costs.

- Have your ID and PIN numbers ready.
- Logon onto MyBenefits.
- Follow the directions.

Steps For Newly Hired Staff
- Attend Stanford New Employee Orientation. Also watch the Benefits Overview Online Presentation.
- Review the benefit materials you receive at the New Employee Orientation and check out the Benefits Web site for more information and resources.
- Go to MyBenefits to make your Medical & Life elections and designate your beneficiaries.
- Review the retirement savings information you receive at New Employee Orientation. Look at the information about our retirement plans at the Benefits Web site, and then logon to the Stanford Retirement Manager to enroll in the Tax-Deferred Annuity (TDA) Plan.
Remember: you have 31 days from your hire date to enroll you and your eligible dependents. If you miss the deadline you will be automatically enrolled in limited benefits for the remainder of the calendar year.
Faculty Only
Stanford faculty are eligible for select benefits in addition to the benefit programs available to other Stanford employees — including Faculty Sabbatical Leave, an on-campus housing program and immediate eligibility for the Tuition Grant Program. For further information, see the Faculty Handbook.

Hired Between October 26 and December 31?
If so, you're considered a Dual Year Hire, and you will need to enroll twice: once for your benefits now, and again for coverage next year. Make sure you follow the instructions when you logon to enroll.
